KEYNOTE SPEAKER EXPLAINS WHY WE SHOULD PAWS FOR LOVE!
Too many times, older teens and young adults feel pressured into making quick decisions or poor choices without giving much thought to long term effects or consequences. In these uplifting, insightful, interactive workshops, teens and college age students will learn to make more positive choices in relationships, understand true love, and be able to avoid potential dangerous relationships, while setting their focus to furthering their education and career.
Lisa Freeman has been speaking to teens for the past eighteen years. Being a troubled teen once herself, she has the passion and drive to really connect and get them motivated to create positive life change. She is a naturally great speaker who holds a degree in education and life.
PAWS is: "Pause before you Act Without Speaking." Paws teaches teens to PAWS before they jump into any decision. For instance, put a paw over their mouth before just blurting something out that they may hurt someone else--even gossip. Yet, when someone needs help, use those PAWS to ACT quickly and do something to help, don't sit by and allow bullying or abuse to keep happening.
WHAT OTHERS SAY ABOUT KEYNOTE SPEAKER LISA FREEMAN:
"Thank you for sharing about your dating violent relationship, being raped, and all that you went through. I was raped too, but I never told anyone. I've been so scared, but hearing your story makes me feel like I can get through this now." -17 year old girl
"I'm gay, but I pretend like I'm not just so others will accept me. Thanks for sharing your story about loving and accepting everyone equally no matter who they are or what path they choose. It really spoke to me." -10th grade guy
"Lisa Freeman shares her amazing story of survival and healing while adding just the right amount of whit and humor. The students are still talking about the CHANGE CHALLENGE and how it helped them. On of the brightest highlights was the singing portion, by her son, Jeremiah. His story of nearly being bullied to death really opened all of ours to how quickly that can happen. The dogs were an added bonus. All around a great program." -Mike Leskowich, Principal Hillman High
"Lisa, thanks for sharing with our junior and senior high classes. Our teens really liked how you got so personal with them. It's a message of pain, recovery, and hope. A message that needs to be heard today. The students were engaged as you shared your story and gave them specific ways to stop bullying and abuse. You helped define what it really is and how students should confront it. Students talked with me afterwards about standing together and standing up to bullies. And everyone just loved the dogs!" -Janet Walinga, Chaplin Lansing Christian
