Adopt or Abort--Life or Death
After giving birth to my third child, Brian who had all the heart complications, no way did I ever want another child. I didn't want to go through a divorce either, or be a single mother of three. But after seven years of marriage, when I learned my husband had abused our three precious children, that's exactly what happened.
Six months after my separation, I met John. We began dating and soon I found myself in a position I never wanted to be in--pregnant and unmarried.
I'm a professing Christian, born again, saved delivered, set free, God fearing, loving, compassionate human being, but I slipped away from God and was living a life of sin. If I said abortion never entered my mind, I'd be lying.
I contemplated what I thought would be taking the easy way out. I had just passed my GED test, was supposed to start college in the fall, and already had three children to raise on my own. I wasn't ready to jump into another marriage just so I'd have support.
Thankfully, I made the choice to have the baby. While being pregnant I went to college, made the Dean's list, and maintained a 4.0 the entire first three semesters. I gave birth to Jeremiah while on spring break. The next year John and I married.
BECAUSE I SAID YES TO LIFE: I've got to hold Jeremiah in my arms, hear him say his first words, take his first steps, and even watch him graduate from high school. He also writes songs, sings, and helps with the dogs and our organization. I'm glad today that I chose LIFE!
