7 Ways to Conquer Stress
In I Peter 5:7 it says, "Cast all your anxiety on Him for He cares for you." God wants us to be free from anxiety. Anxiety is really stress that has turned to worry.
Stress attacks us on a daily basis. Whether we have pressure on the job or with family matters, stress can build up and tear everything in our lives down that we've worked so hard for. God doesn't want us to let stress overpower us.
I'm an author, speaker, dog trainer, certified pet therapist, web designer, blog writer, photographer, wife, and mother. Aside from these duties, I run a non-profit organization to help the abused, needy, and hurting. My life has been crazy at times and out of balance. I've learned when I overwork myself I become exhausted, totally stressed out, and even physically sick. However, when I practice these seven principals that I've listed below, I find that happy, healthy balance in life again and keep the stress at bay! I hope you can too!
7 WAYS TO CONQUER STRESS
1. PLAN YOUR COURSE: Don't procrastinate and wait until the last minute. Yet be open to the steps God wants you to take.
In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps. Proverbs 16:9
Make a plan to get out of your stresses, don't stay in the same rut. Yet, be open to what ways God may be leading. He'll take you to the top!
2. BE COMMITTED: Be committed to what you are doing, commit your work to the Lord and you will succeed.
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3
Commitment is important for anything in life to work, but most importantly to make sure our hearts and motives are committed to the Lord.
3. STAY FOCUSED: Instead of looking at the stresses and problems in your life, focus on the answer.
I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:8
Too many times we focus on the problem instead of looking to God for the solution. Satan often magnifies our problem, making an ant hill look like a gigantic mountain. But just remember with God we can even overcome enormous mountains.
4. BE A BRANCH: Branches stay connected, are always growing and strong.
Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:4,5
Branches are tough when they're connected to the vine. Too many times we think we can go it alone. When we break away from the vine we lose our ability to grow and stay strong.
5. ASK FOR HELP: Need help? God is waiting to help you, if only you come to him and ask.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and mountains quake and with their surging. Psalm 46:1-3
Too often we expect people or God to come running and rescue us when we are in trouble. We have to learn to humble ourselves and ask. He is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble, BUT he's a gentleman and won't interfere if we don't ask.
6. GAIN TRUST: Trust God, be blessed, and you will have nothing to worry about.
But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water and sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:7,8
We can get into a habit of worry when stresses in life creep up. It is when we transform those worries into trust and faith in God, that we will receive the greatest blessings and overpower the stress.
7. GET REST: Rest in the Lord, take the stress off your shoulders.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
From the very beginning, God created a day of rest. He wanted it and he knew we needed it. When we overwork ourselves without taking proper rest physically and mentally, stress can cause grave danger to our bodies. Stress is the #1 cause of all major illnesses. So, let's come to the ONE who can set us free today and be totally healed, delivered and set free!
BONUS: If you have a dog, they are excellent stress reducers. Just simply take five and cuddle up to your pooch. Contact with these four legged angels will produce healthy endorphins to charge through your body to rejuvenate your health like nothing else can!
