Behind the Scenes of Dog Training
These are some shots behind the scenes of our interactive dog training sessions. We love meeting new people and pups!
As the summer came to a close, so did our group pup and dog training classes. A bittersweet moment for sure. It was great to see them all graduate and doing so well, but I will miss the fun, laughter, and the interaction from this amazing group of people and dogs.
As you can see by the pictures, we had a mix of both puppies and dogs, and people! Young and old, small and huge, some just beginning, and others a bit more experienced. From teeny tiny Pomeranians and Chihuahuas to big strong German Shephers and Golden Labs. Some were barkers, others strong leash pullers. Some knew no basic commands, others knew all the basics but were there for behavior modification. We even had a registered service dog with aggression issues. But over the course of our six week training program I am proud to say that all the owners and their K-9 Pals did phenomenal without any incidents!
Congratulations to all of you! It was such a pleasure to work with such a great group of people.
Meet the Johnson's from Bancroft, Michigan.
This is their sweet German Shepherd puppy Sadie. Her pet parents brought her to our class as a three month old pup. She like to "bite" at their hands and heels, pull on the leash, and was fearful of sounds. In just four weeks of training, Sadie learned all the obedience commands, wasn't biting hardly at all anymore, learned her game of chase wasn't working, and overcame some of her biggest fears! Sadie achieved her AKC Star Puppy Award.
"Lisa, you're a really good trainer. We've both learned so much. I cannot believe how much better Sadie is doing at home and when we take her out. We'd like to put her through your advanced training course too." -Dolly and Pete Johnson
Meet Rachel Jean, Danny DeBarr and PLUTO from Owosso, Michigan!
Pluto is a hyper, yet loving Pomerianian pup. When he came to our 1st training session he was only six weeks old. He was also very vocal and barky and obviously didn't know any of the basic commands. By the 3rd class Pluto would come, sit, and had stopped whining and barking on command. He is now working toward his AKC Star Puppy Certificate.
"Thank you so much, Lisa. We loved our puppy classes and learned so much. Have more to work on, but glad we're on track to getting him certified to be a pet therapy dog."
Meet George Pichette and Teddy from Owosso, Michigan!
Teddy is a precious 3 yr. old Golden Doodle. He had some issues with jumping, pulling and not staying, but in just a couple of weeks he was doing awesome!
"Lisa, we're really enjoying the classes. Teddy's doing so much better. Thank you." -Diane Pichette
Meet Helen Martin and Jasper from Corunna, Michigan!
Jasper is a 3 yr. old Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix. He's already had advanced training and knows all of the commands, but he had aggression towards other dogs and children. Every time his owner took him into a store he would viciously bark at children, a behavior she was able to break after attending just two classes!
"Thank you Lisa! He is so much better. Now when I take him into the stores he obeys me and doesn't bark at anyone. Most of the time he doesn't even bark at other dogs. We're still working on some things, but using what I've learned in this class I can see major improvement every day!" -Helen Martin
Meet the Eveleth's and Gussie from Corunna, Michigan!
Gussie is a very beautiful high strung Golden Retriever. When the Eveleth's brought Gussie to our 1st class she didn't know any of the main obedience commands and she pulled so badly on the leash they could barely walk her. After just a couple training sessions Gussie was so much better on the leash and learned all the obedience commands too. I'm proud to say she will receive her AKC Star Puppy Award.
"Gussie is still hyper, but she is obeying us more and more. And the best thing is that even my wife can walk her on a leash, where before even I had a hard time. Thank you!" -Pete Eveleth
Meet Olivia and Lilly from Owosso, Michigan!
Lilly is a 3 yr. old Shitzu/Maltese mix. She has aggression and barks at people and dogs. Both Olivia and Lilly have fears to overcome. At first Lilly and Olivia stayed at the back of the group, getting used to the other people and dogs in the group, but by the 2nd class they were both interacting without so much fear. I'm so proud of both of them. Sadly Olivia witnessed her sisters dog being brutally attacked and killed by two other dogs right before her eyes, just two weeks before classes started.
Olivia is very quiet and shy, so she didn't give me a review. But she did give me a hug and a huge smile. That was worth more than any words she could ever say!
A trained dog is a safe dog. So please if your dog is showing behavior issues or having obedience struggles, get them into a training program somewhere.
